In Wales, nurses currently have to care for more patients per member of staff than anywhere else in the UK.
We don't think that's right. The Welsh Liberal Democrats want to build a healthier society with a stronger Welsh NHS. That's why Welsh Lib Dem leader Kirsty Williams is trying to introduce a law to ensure safe nurse staffing levels in our hospitals.
After all, nurses who have fewer patients to tend are able to spend a greater amount of time with each patient and as a result can provide better care. The evidence shows that this law would reduce the amount of money spent on temporary nurses from agencies, saving our NHS money in the long run.
