Worst record for Flintshire ambulances in two years

Flintshire’s ambulance service has recorded its worst figures for 2 years following a series of declining figures over the last six months says North Wales’ Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Aled Roberts.

The proportion of ambulances in Flintshire hitting the response time target of eight minutes for the most urgent calls fell to under 40% in December and that followed a month on month decline from over 50% last July.

”Overall the figures for the Welsh Ambulance Service were the worst since records began,” commented Aled Roberts AM. “But the figures for Flintshire are very worrying because it was their worst performance for over two years and follows a deteriorating performance over the last six months.

”The Welsh Government’s target for responding to Category A calls is 65% – but in Flintshire last month it was just 38.9% – the lowest figure for over 2 years.

”I am very concerned that despite concerns being expressed about the performance of ambulances in Flintshire for more than a year, the situation continues to deteriorate. We need a plan to identify the problems and work out some solutions. For the sake of patients and the morale of hard-working staff this needs to be sorted out.”
